What I did

Most basement experiences in this market cater to adult groups with things like poker and pool. Part of this basement had already been converted to an extra bedroom, so the remaining space had to work hard. I split it between a place to sit and a place to play with simpler games so every age can use it at once. I turned the upstairs landing into square footage that earns, adding seating, a desk and a hanging chair so it became somewhere to work or step away from the group without leaving. I sized the dining room for ten at one table, which gave a large group a place to eat together and a place to play together after.
